My photo
Being a modeller for quite a few years now, I decided to explore the endless possibilities that the world (through internet) offers, and come up with a series of ways of building, modelling and painting fast (but not hastily), to create the worlds I was seeing in history books since I was little. . .If you care to join me. . . This is the place to be! And, I promise you to find the way (or ways)!!

Normandy Town House‏

Greetings from warm Athens.

Hope you are all well.
As most of you remember, my last post was about a new terrain piece I was preparing for my Normandy Project. A normandy town house made from stone - well, it was made from Plasticard and foamcore card but, for the sake of our hobby, let's all pretend that I am telling the truth. :-)

If you have noticed, the whole project was done in a pile of paints, brushes, cutters, pieces of plastic etc etc....

My inspiration for the house you are going to see below, derived from the links below (not in any particular order), which helped me 'envision' the finished result. So, in case you were wondering, yes, I am a crazy tosser, I see a wooden gate, and ask myself ''what can I make out of it''....? Other people think about cancer curement, famine extinction...well, I don't. I see plastic people (and metal occasionally) everywhere... :-)

It was a rather time-consuming work, because I decided to develop my modelling approach, by adding some new features, such as round pieces of foamcore for the gate, pieces of needles for the window cases, a new-mix for weathering stonework and other building parts etc.. :-)

The dimensions of this piece are big, compared to other previous works I've done. The base only, is 30cm x 30cm. I reckon that if I carry producing behemoths like this in the future, I won't manage to get married, cause my girlfriend will throw me out of the house (or my models - sth anyway, to save some space). :-)

So, on with the photos......

What do you think? Will it serve its purpose?

Any C&C are more than welcome!

Have a great Monday night everyone!
Cheers.
T.

  3. If you stopped at just the house I would say wow, but with all the extras and so well thought out it's jaw dropping. So very impressive. Keep making stuff like this and if you can part with it, it will pay for the wedding!!!

  4. Really really nice stuff as always Thanos.

If it's a consolation, you're not the only one who suffers from that crazy tosser sindrome.

Whenever I happen to be in any kind of shop that has things for the house, I can't help myself and always end up thinking "now that looks good, I could use it for......" ....... no need to go on, you obviously already know what I mean ;-)

  5. Really nice build! Lots of detail, such as aging of bricks, stone, slate, wooden parts. The walls are made for the tossing of hand grenades over!

  10. Yay so there's a name for our condition crazy tosser syndrome, that sounds great. I think we all have it its part of our natural instinct to cut costs at all times... or at least not to have to buy something especially just get something general and alter it.

great work! does to roof open up? as that would be the icing on the cake... removable icing in case you don't want it :-D

  14. The work you do with your hands is most impressive Thanos. The stonework is so precise as to look real. Particularly I like the greenery you add to the wall and to the house. One thing I would like to see you add is some flowers near the house and the shed. Just that little touch would show that a woman had at some time lived there and loved her home.

  15. That is a stunning piece of scenery Thanos! The attention to deail, with the foliage, shed and tree, is excellent. I hope you manage to make more large pieces like this (and manage not to get thrown out of course!)
