Armourfast #99017 - Sherman Firefly

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well.
Last weekend I finished two Sherman Fireflies made by Armourfast (#99017).

They were rather easy to build (15 minutes app. per model). A good deal for a wannabe wargamer (as myself). :-)
They are destined to accompany my platoons of 43rd Wessex Division.
They are finished in terms of painting, but, some days ago I ordered some Sherman accessories from SGT's Mess Webstore (GM15 Spare Sherman tracks and wheels) in order to 'enrich' them a bit more. When they'll come, I'll show you how these parts fit on these models.

I hope you like them!
Any C&C are more than welcome.
Cheers everyone!
T.

  2. Nicely done Thanos. Are those your scratchbuilt crates on those tanks.

    1. Thank you Anne. The crates are from Sgts Mess (small wooden boxes kit). Nice and cheap if I may say.

  3. Very nice. I see you've left off the 50 cal - good idea, mine keep breaking off when I'm playing with my tanks!

    1. Thank you Nick. I decided not to install the 50's, simply because they are already equipped with the 17pdrs. Who wood need some mere 50's for help? :-)

  4. These look superb! Your painting style suits them very well. They look like they've been in the field without the weathering looking over the top.

  6. Great job on those T, nice subtle weathering.
If I recall correctly the spare track from Sgts Mess was a bit narrower than the tracks on my Shermans, I think that was because it was scaled for 1/76 rather than 1/72- but I'm sure it will still look ok.

    1. Thank you John.
Do you think that it will be that visible in terms of accuracy? I am thinking of putting some additional stowage on them, in order to minimize the visual effect.
      Thanks for the tip! :)

    1. Thank you Conrad!
The decals are from www.domsdecals.com. They are destined for 15mm vehicles, but, in this scale, I think that the difference is not 'hard' to the eye. Dom is offering some fine quality service. I am very pleased by his help and by his products, of course. :)

  11. Good work on these Thanos, a couple of heavy hitters.

  12. Armourfast made a mistake with these....the Firefly lost it's hull machine gun and gunner (the hole was plated over) and the space saved was used to store extra 17pdr shells
