Fortuna has rolled its dices for me

Hi everyone!

This is a post made in the interim, in order to thank two special guys I am sure you all know and have talked to. Some days ago they decided to run a competition among all us fellow bloggers, in order to thank us for visiting their blogs. We managed to make their counters reach the astronomical figure of 300.000 visits!!! Our visits were well excused though, by the fact that they kept on producing some serious work and make us value our hobby even more. And they are funny too. I always value people with humor. :-)

For this reason, they ran this competition of offering some game dices with their game club logo engraved on them (The infamous Posties Rejects).

I was one of the lucky three that got this prize. I actually was the first winner who got a good lot of 10 dices. I must admit that I don't think of myself as the luckiest person in the world, so you can all imagine how I felt when I realised (well, with the help of one of the donors that PMed me) that I won this competition! Blimey, that was simply great news! :-)

Today I received the envelope with these little white Postie's Rejects dices. :-)

So, a special thank you to these polite, witty, talented, kind-hearted and enjoyable fellows. Mr. Ray (Don't throw a 1) and Mr. Fran (The Angry Lurker). You are the best guys!!!

So full 6's for me then, due to a most kind gesture of my two  friends! :-)

Thanks again guys!

W.I.P - Reinforcements from the post.

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well. Last Friday I received some new models from England, for my ongrowing forces of Germans and British.
The first four (all the same), were from Fortress Models. I have ordered four Opel Blitz trucks, the vehicle that was one of the most famous of the time that played many roles during WW2. These models are from resin and the level of details, is exceptionally good. I wish these guys could expand the models range they offer.
The other two were from Ready To Roll Models (RTR - Rapid fire). They are two Crusader gun tractors for towing  my 17 pdr AT guns, I have bought and painted recently (unfortunately I haven't post any photos yet, because I am still waiting for their crews from AB Figures....). These (also from resin) were too good! The only drawback for me, was their pre-installed bases (I don't make any bases for my AFV's), but for 6 quid/piece it doesn't feel right to gripe.  :-)

Right now, I am putting the finals colours on them (still a lot to do - weathering, chipping and so on...), and I hope that by my next post on Thursday, I will be able to show you the whole lot - so please stay tuned! :-)

Have a restful night everyone (and a good day to all the guys and girls from down under)!
Cheers,

Thanos

Italeri Kit 7504 - Panther Ausf. G

Hi everyone,

A nice Thursday night tonight, and I am about to share some photos of my newly painted German Tanks. These would be the famous Pzkpfw V 'Panther' Ausf. G, made from Italeri (#7504) - the easy build kit.
This kit comes with two models. I got one last week and I decided to refurbish one of my old Pz V's I had bought in the past (same kit).  Paul from Plastic Warriors (an excellent blog to visit) has given me a lot of ideas, and I'd like to thank him for that. :-)

I painted this whole lot with sprays and a lot of patience. The camo effect was achieved with the 'stencil' method, as I'd like to call it - meaning that I used some hollow straps in cardboard as a guide for my camo effect while spraying the colours on/through them onto the model.

The decals are from Dom's Decals. A most excellent fellow - very helpful. :-)

On with the photos then:

I hope you like them!

Revell # 02523 - British Infantry - 2'' mortars

Good week everyone.

Its been a long week this past one, but, I must say that I painted much. I didn't have the time to surf the web a lot, and instead I tried to use my spare time in order to paint some more.

Below you will find some photos of three 2'' mortar bases, coming from Revell's British Infantry kit (#02523). They are a bit off the 20mm scale (bigger than usual), but this kit provides some good figures for various purposes, such as the 2'' mortars that were an indispensable asset to every British Infantry platoon. Their main job was to throw smoke for covering the advancing Tommies, but they could also bring some explosive charges on their adversaries' heads. :-)

The target was dictated by the men with the radio, processing the info from the recce observers.

So...

I hope you like them.

Have a good night everyone.

P.S: Hopefully, my next post will display some work of mine related to German forces in the Normandy area - just for a change. So, until next time: stay tuned!

Some plastic and some toothpicks - Finished!

Hi everyone!

It's been a rather long day for me (plenty of work, house errants and social contacts), that's why I ended up uploading my finished work so late.

If you've seen my last post, I put up a quiz, regarding the usage of some plastic men and toothpicks. Most of you have figured out what I was planning to do, and below you will find the photos confirming this. I decided to make some figures using bangalore torpedoes with some toothpicks! They came out a bit too bulky (they should have been slimmer), but when I came up with the idea in using some round plastic, the painted toothpicks were already stuck on their bases. :-)

I got this idea when reading a book from Osprey publishing, showing some plucky Brits, storming a bunker with the help of some smoke and some bangalore torpedoes.

Apart from showing the finished bases with the figs, I decided to be the 'director' of the storming phase, moments before the bangalore torpedoes explode! :-)

Off you go then - enjoy:

The attack on the bunker:

The view from inside the bunker:

The preparation for the destruction of the barbed wire posts:

I hope you like em. As you see, they were really easy to make.

Cheers everyone!
