Being a modeller for quite a few years now, I decided to explore the endless possibilities that the world (through internet) offers, and come up with a series of ways of building, modelling and painting fast (but not hastily), to create the worlds I was seeing in history books since I was little. . .If you care to join me. . . This is the place to be! And, I promise you to find the way (or ways)!!

AB Figures - BLA57 Battery/Troop Command Group

Hello everyone!

Some days ago, I bought some figures from AB Miniatures. More specifically, I've ordered some British figures destined to do their service in an 5.5'' inch Artillery battery.

The first two figures I managed to paint were the ones of the Forward Observer (FOO) and his companion Radio Operator. As I mentioned in that post, these figures were painted very easily, due to the fact that their sculpting and details are of the finest quality (IMHO), there's in the market.

In this post I've uploaded some photos of their superiors officers and NCO's. AB Miniatures is providing a set of figures called : ''Battery/Troop Command Group''. This lot of figs was a part of my order as well. Metal figures of the finest quality (there you are, I am repeating my self!). :-)

They were based as usual on my most famous pizza stands, and on top of them I've placed some newly acquired Army Painters' Swamp Tufts and Meadow Flowers.

The map is scratch built, from a small piece of paper and some acrylic colours. The lines are a bit too heavy I think, but, I draw them with my hand and my finest brush...I hope they don't show too out of the pictures' realism. :-)

I hope you like 'em!

Have a good week everyone!
T.

  3. I really like these dioramas Thanos. I think the map turned out fine and I thought it had come as part of the set.

I am doing a story set in Ireland and one of my figures is a blacksmith and I was wondering if I could name him Thanos. The figure is from Wayland and he's very detailed, just gorgeous.

Also I used your technique for weathering a barn that I build for the first scene of my story. When I do the tutorial for it, I'll mention you and link back to that post.

  4. Sweet and polite (as always) Anne. :-)
It would be my honor to see myself in a form of an Irish blacksmith! I always had good memories from Irish folks (lots o Guinness) when studying?, in the uk. So, yes would be the answer! I do! :-)
I'll wait with great anticipation to see your work when it's finished! I am sure it'll turn out great! :-)
    Thank you Anne!

  5. You've done a great job on those, Thanos. I especially like the maptable and map. Well done.
A&B Miniatures are the bomb. You are right, no one does 20mm WW2 better than them. Worth every penny. I am embarrassed I still have A&B figs I haven't painted yet.

    Cheers mate

  6. You have really done those AB figures justice T- top notch work.
Yeah, like Mike I still have AB figures I haven't painted yet, keep getting sidetracked by other goodies.
Thank you for sharing your excellent work T, & I really appreciated your recent comment about not building cages, but dropping keys - makes me want to do a tutorial of my own.

    Cheers,
    John

    1. Sidetracked by other models? You tell me John! Howitzers, trucks, figures terrain pieces, all at the same time. While waiting a colour to dry, I add another colour to another model waiting for me on the side of my bench...:-)
Thank you for your kind words (pls accept my apologies for calling you Jack all this time - my mistake).
Please make a tutorial and show it to us. Your work is an inspiration to us all! :-)

  7. Great stuff Thanos, ABs are just excellent, but expensive, I just ordered a large lot of Battlefield metal Germans, I hope they are decent.

What you pay is what you get (in general). They are a bit over my budget, but I admit it, I am a beauty fan! ;-)

  9. I love these Thanos, but every time you mention pizza stands I start licking my lips. It would seem your modelling success is in tune with my expanding waistline! :D
